WDG | Architects Engineers provided architectural design services for the renovation of Gretna Middle School (Currently Thomas Jefferson Academy for Advanced Studies) for damages incurred from Hurricane Ida in August of 2021. The renovation scope included both interior and exterior improvements for four buildings on the school campus. Exterior improvements included the demolition and replacement of the existing built-up coal tar roof with a new SBS mod bit roof system. The existing brick parapet was raised to accommodate the increased insulation requirements to meet current building codes. Custom fabricated scuppers for overflow drainage, new steel roof ladders, new coping, new roof drain covers, and selective repointing of the existing brick walls were also included in the exterior improvements. The renovation scope included both interior and exterior improvements for four of the seven buildings on the school campus. Exterior improvements included the demolition and replacement of the existing roof system with a new SBS mod bit roof system for Buildings 2, 3, and the Main. The existing Gymnasium standing seam metal roof was replaced with a new one. Existing gutters and downspouts were to be reused where possible. WDG | Architects Engineers provided architectural design services for the renovation of McDonogh 26 Elementary School for damages incurred from Hurricane IDA in August of 2021. The renovation scope included both interior and exterior improvements for all five buildings on the school campus. Exterior renovations included demolition and replacement of the existing roof cap flashing. The existing gym’s metal roof was replaced with a new one. Re-glazing of select existing windows and siding/soffit replacement were also included in the scope of work. Interior renovations included select removal/replacement of damaged VCT, rubber base, gypsum, and acoustical tile ceilings.
