WDG has performed extensive planning, architecture and engineering services for the City of New Orleans over the years on work ranging from damage assessments, feasibility studies, renovations and improvements.
The City of New Orleans’ center of government, City Hall and the Civil District Courts were heavily damaged due to Hurricane Katrina in 2005. WDG was selected to assess damages and provide a Comprehensive Damage Report of City Hall for the City of New Orleans and FEMA. The scope of work also included a relocation feasibility study as well as repairs to major portions of the building with the goal of restoring this facility to its pre-storm condition and providing the necessary upgrades requested by the City of New Orleans. Included were roof replacements, curtain wall repairs, interior floor, wall and ceiling repairs and replacement of mechanical and electrical systems. WDG worked with the City of New Orleans and FEMA to add additional funding for the repairs and replacements to City Hall.

- City of New Orleans – Civil District Court Building – WDG was selected to assess damages and provide a Comprehensive Damage Report (CDR) of the Civil District Courts for the City and FEMA. This scope of work included roof replacements, window replacement, EIFS replacement, and various interior repairs to mechanical and electrical systems.
- City Hall Facility Relocation Assessment - Feasibility Study - WDG provided architectural and engineering services to assess the Chevron building at 935 Gravier Street as a possible relocation site for City Hall.
- Emergency Operations Center Build-out in City Hall – WDG was selected to renovate the west wing of the Ninth Floor of City Hall for the Emergency Operations Center. This 9,500 square foot facility is occupied by the Homeland Security Office and will be used as the central location for all communication for the City of New Orleans in the event of a disaster. This project included the installation of a new Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), reorganization of the existing generator system with a new transfer system, upgrading the existing electrical system to meet the new audio/ visual standards, and a new emergency back-up HVAC system.
