Orleans parish elementary school | New Orleans, louisiana
WDG | Architects Engineers was selected by the Recovery School District in association with Orleans Parish School Board to provide comprehensive architectural and engineering design and contract administration services for the replacement elementary school. The school will be designed and constructed to meet the LEED Silver certification. The existing school was damaged beyond repair from Hurricane Katrina. The new school is for 600 students from Pre-K to 8th Grade and in addition to the three-story classroom wing, the program will consist of a gymnasium, a cafeteria, a black box theater, and administration areas. The design process included public meetings to provide an opportunity for the public’s input and commentary.
Engineering included a low voltage systems design, including security and CCTV, access control, public address, paging and notification systems, interactive whiteboard and digital media management systems, audiovisual systems, telephone system, server and IDF/MDF design, fiber backbone, structured cabling system, and wireless communication. WDG provided design and equipment specifications for all systems as part of the project construction documents. This project is currently in the bid phase.
