Metairie Park Country Day Edisen House
Early childhood learning center | Metairie, LA
WDG provided planning and architectural design services for Metairie Park Country Day School to create a conceptual design for the expansion and renovation of Edisen House Early Childcare Facility. At the onset of the project, WDG met with school representatives to gain an in-depth understanding of the physical and spatial requirements as dictated by licensing requirements and facility needs. Additionally, WDG consulted with Dr. Thelma Harms, a leading expert on early childcare center planning.
Several options were presented to the school, including a combination of ideas to add on to existing buildings with various degrees of renovations. Outdoors spaces including porches, outdoor play areas, and existing play equipment were incorporated into the design. The school board worked with WDG to select the final option for the site plan.
The design team developed optimized floor plans that account for the required spaces, exterior elevations for the building, and a conceptual site layout. Site and floor plans were developed in accordance with federal, state and local regulations for schools/childcare facilities. Additionally, WDG worked with a contractor to develop high-level construction costs for the proposed buildings.
